Travis Ishikawa = Tino Martinez with Gold Glove Potential |
|

Something interesting I noticed....TI-10's first 2 years mirror Tino's...
Tino Martinez:

Travis Ishikawa:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...tting_standard
Travis is on pace to have a better third year than Tino, at this current pace, this is what Travis is on track to do:
.258 AVG 15 Home Runs 71 RBIs .739 OPS (keep in mind, Bochy had Aurillia cut into Ishi's playing time) vs Tino's third season at: .257 AVG 16 Home Runs 66 RBIs .727 OPS
Why I think TI-10's gonna be >>> Tino:
>Ishikawa is a Gold Glove Caliber 1st Baseman...Tino was okay
>Ishikawa is still developing his swing, eventually I see him puttin up 30 Home Runs a year...keep in mind that Tino's home run numbers got inflated after the '96 season thanks to 'roids
>Ishikawa has the potential to hit in the .280's for a career (Tino has a career .270 AVG)
>He's got a future Super Star teammate in Pablo Sandoval, and a Top Tier Pitcher in Lincecum which leads to the giants being a future power house...if the Giants reach their full potential (especially offensively) I wouldn't be surprised... [Read More]

ZOMG. Cohan to sell Warriors? |

This is better than the Amare deal.
Warriors big picture: Is Cohan getting ready to sell?
Posted by Tim Kawakami on July 3rd, 2009 at 4:15 pm
We’ve all heard the rumors for years. They have been denied each and every time. I’ve listened and not taken the rumors seriously in previous iterations.
But this time I’ve heard it from several people very close to the situation and in the league, with little room for doubt on their part:
Warriors owner Chris Cohan is believed to be seriously considering selling his 80% stake in the franchise in the next year or two, according to the sources. (He took control of the franchise in January 1995.)
In fact, one knowledgeable source said it’s “highly likely” that Cohan will sell most or all of his controlling interest in the team, possibly pulling back only if the current recession unexpectedly continues through 2011 and Cohan can’t get the price he wants.

The art of negotiation is one of mankind’s most evolved skills. Humans evolved into our present relatively properous state because of our ancestors (for the most part) realized that bartering and trading increases overall wealth and welfare and the means of maximizing ones welfare is via negotiation. Reasonable discussion to reach understanding, history has shown, and all of us agree, is preferable to fisticuffs.
So it is not surprising that negotiation has evolved into a discipline, a science. Taught at the finest of higher learning establishments, fueled by gurus such as Bill Ury, most people agree that superior negotiation skills is an important corner stone to career success. Unless you are a sports agent.
Bill Ury’s seminal work “Getting to Yes” speaks of reaching common ground with your adversary. Ury espouses quite common sense concepts such as:
* Treat your opponent with respect
* Put yourself in their shoes
* Don’t deduce their intentions from your fear
* Don’t blame them for your problem
* Discuss each other’s perceptions
* Face saving: make your | ... [Read More]

Phil Jackson Will Return for 2009-10 Season
After receiving results of medical tests, Lakers head coach Phil Jackson has announced he will return to coach the team for the 2009-10 season.
"After consulting with Lakers team internist Dr. John Moe, I feel confident that I can gainfully pursue an NBA season with another long playoff postseason. All things point to go!," said Jackson.
Jackson, who just completed his 9th season as head coach of the Lakers and 18th overall as an NBA head coach, concluded the 2008-09 season by leading the Lakers to the NBA championship. With his most recent title, Jackson won his 10th NBA championship, surpassing the late Red Auerbach for most in NBA history. In addition to his most recent title, Jackson won three consecutive championships in his first three seasons (2000-02) as head coach with the Lakers. The fastest coach to reach 1,000 career victories, Jackson's total of 1,041 wins ranks 6th all-time. His .705 winning percentage ranks 1st in league history.
A member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Jackson served as head coach of the Chicago Bulls for nine seasons prior to joining the | ... [Read More]
